Comment: Was Sp/4 Fernandez a Door Gunner from the 25th on Tdy from Hawai?
I was living in the same building he was if that is indeed the same person.
Please let me know some more information on him,I was with the Rattlers from 1964-1965.
Thank you.

Comment: I was serving as First Sergeant of the Military Police Company at Sandia Base, NM.Our company provided the firing squad for Sp/4 Fernandez's burial at the National Cemetery located in Santa Fe, NM.The troops within that firing squad were very honored to be selected to perform this duty for this exceptional soldier. The Unit Commander (Cpt Buzan) and myself attended the service at the cemetery, there were many Senior Officers and NCO's from Sandia Base in attendance honoring this young man.The majority of us did not know Sp/4 Fernandez but he must have been a soldier of the highest standards.I served with the 25th Inf Division as an Infantryman during the Korean War,and I'm sure the 25th Inf Div holds the memory of Sp/4 Fernandez in the highest regard.
