2016 Rattler/Firebird Reunion Events
Fort Worth Riding Tour and Bureau of Engraving & Printing
Thursday, May 19 (9:00am-3:00pm) $32 pp
Fort Worth will capture your heart with its charming blend of the Wild West and modern cultures. We will go on a historical tour from what was once a wild frontier inhabited by buffalo and Indians to the present city with its magnificent skyscrapers. The Fort Worth Stockyards is the history book of the livestock industry in Texas. It is represented by the original bricks and mortar and the wood corrals. For drovers heading longhorn cattle up the Chisholm Trail, Fort Worth was the last major stop for rest and supplies. To this day, Fort Worth still holds a live re-enactment of a Cattle Drive in the Stockyards. Twice a day the cattle mosey down the street. You will have time on your own for lunch in one of the many restaurants.
The Fort Worth “Mint” is a great place to see where billions of dollars are printed from an enclosed walkway, which is suspended above the production floor! Over half of the nation's currency order is produced in Fort Worth. The experience includes an informative theater film, and the opportunity to walk through two floors of interactive exhibits and displays showcasing currency history and the intricate art of currency manufacturing. At the Money factory gift shop you may purchase souvenir items including uncut currency sheets.
